"And the great unraveling of this mystery we call being is found in every act of being, that it is not static but thoroughly alive and considered. What we receive from the One, this 'divine Act of Being', is an exaltation scarcely exaggerated. What we find in contemplation over time, and what I hear in the silence of mere existence, is that the unique dignity of 'to be' is to pour out oneself: to be, is to love." - Anans, 10th century

When The Abyss Gives Up Its Dead[]

False Andes

Pelys, the land of dragons and giants

The frost-painted plains of a chartless continent. An inkwell lake miles underground lit only by luminescent lichens. The uncapped peaks of thin-aired mountains overlooking a golden badland. All over this alien world, the sounds of artillery thunder and machinework grinding echoes from the hellscapes formed by the dead winds of war.

The once-whimsical lands of the elves has been ripped apart by a momentous religious schism, too obscure to comprehend by the common folk, and this has presented ample opportunity for garnering both valor and coin. Mage-thrown infernos, mithral-clad machines and spell-shaped abominations etch their presence in the andesite hills, followed closely by prospectors who seek a share of their spoils. A generation has passed since the onset of the conflict and the stakes have only escalated, and with them incalculable magical artifacts littering the landscape.

But your prospecting career will go beyond plunging into the entombed darkness of the Underworld, glacial spires of the frigid coasts and the enchanted megaliths of societies above the clouds. Something unfathomed stirs from an ageless past beneath the ruins of mortal passions. Conquest has disturbed the sleeping wrath of something primeval, and their unwelcome return is only beginning. You ought to tread carefully... when the abyss give up its dead. A campaign from levels 1-20.

A Renaissance-Era Dungeons & Dragons Setting[]

About the Wiki[]

This is a setting developed by Scoobert Little, username g.y.g.e.s, for a great set of players who are curious about the world around them. This wiki serves as a resource for those of you who like to read in your spare time. I've done my best to make sure timelines match up, locations and names are the same, and that the world is as complex as it is compelling. Please do not edit any pages besides your own. Any changes will be removed.

Updated 5th Edition Rules[]

To better flavor the game to the setting, and to make this experience more fun overall, I have taken extensive liberties with the rules. Most of these rules are variant rules found in the Dungeon Master's Guide, but some are homebrew rules that I made for the sole purpose of this campaign. Check out the new rules for 5.5e, as well as the changes to some of the races' and classes' flavor and abilities.

I've kept mechanical change for races and classes to a minimum, with the only revisions being buffs and additional features. Each race has been given added subrace customization options. The only things I have removed are the following races from play: Aasimar, Aarakocra, Genasi, and Tabaxi. You are welcome to play as any race you choose from this wiki; however, if it is not listed, send me a private message and we can further discuss how your character fits into the setting and their reasons for engaging with a larger society.
